Led by a superb century from Bir Kanwar Singh Virk (106),Mohali posted a total of 284 runs in the first innings match against Patiala,during ongoing Under-22 Punjab Inter-District cricket tournament played at the PCA stadium. On winning the toss,Patiala invited Mohali to bat first. Along with Bir Kanwar (106 runs),Harpreet Mander (44 runs),Ankit Pursharthy (38 runs) and took Mohali to a total of 284 runs in 79.4 overs. Bir Kanwar batted fluently for his ton that came off 151 balls. For Patiala,Sukhwinder Singh bowled well to scalp three wickets,giving away 77 runs. In reply,Patiala were 31 for 2 at the end of first days play and were trailing by 253 runs. For Mohali,Gagandeep bagged two wickets. In another match played at Sector 16 stadium,due to overnight rain,the match between Chandigarh and Amritsar started a bit late. Chandigarh won the toss and elected to bat first,scoring 155 runs for the loss of four wickets in 59 overs. Veer Karan Goyal and Gurinder Singh were at the crease with 76 and 54 runs respectively. For Amritsar, Sunny (2 for 28) and Amandeep Bawa (24 for 2) were the main wicket takers. In the match played at the Burlton Park in Jalandhar,Jalandhar were 389 for all in 80.5 overs against Ludhiana. Jalandhar won the toss and elected to bat first. For Jalandhar,the in-form batsman Mandeep Singh scored 144 runs in 143 balls. Apart from Mandeep,Himanshu Satyawan (85),Siddharth Sharma (53) were the main contributors.
