Bharti Vij Academy triumphs

Led by combined effort of Abhishek Mehta (67) and Gurdeep Singh (66) helped Bharti Vij Cricket Academy record an emphatic 83 runs win over Sector 37 Cricket Academy in the third match of the Under-13 Inter-Academy Cricket Tournament for LIC Trophy played at St. Soldier’s International School-28 in Chandigarh on Thursday.

On winning the toss,Bharti Vij Academy elected to bat first and posted a target of 267 runs for the loss of four wickets in the allotted quota of 30 overs. The Vij Academy openers Akshdeep and Abhishek put up a fine show contributing 125 runs in 13 overs for the opening wicket. Later,Gurdeep played a superb knock of 66 runs to help his team post 267 runs. For Sector 37 Academy Tushar and Sayyim claimed two wickets each. In reply,Sector 37 Cricket Academy were bundled out for 184 runs in 28 overs. Kulbhushan played a useful knock of 50 runs while Sayyim scored 39. For the winning side,Diyvanshu Sharma and Vivek Sharma scalped two wickets each.

CLTA trainees on way to success

Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association CHART trainee Ajay Yadav partnered with Arjun Khade to win the doubles title in the Under-16 AITA National Series Tennis Tournament held at DLTA in New Delhi on Thursday. The duo defeated the pair of Suraj and Sourav by 4-6,7-5,10-8 in the final to lift the doubles trophy. Meanwhile,Ajay Yadav will take on another CLTA trainee Digvijay Singh Mehta in the semi-finals of singles category on Friday. Ajay Yadav defeated Karan Suresh 6-1,6-2 in the quarter-finals while Digvijay Singh Mehta snubbed Weitla Saawant’s challenge 6-2,7-6 to reach the last-four.
