The two-day 9th Annual National Conference of the Society for Coronary Imaging and Physiology (SCIP India 2025) successfully got together 250 leading cardiologists and medical professionals from across the country to advance the understanding and practice of imaging-guided coronary angioplasty.

Prof Rajesh Vijayvergiya, organising secretary of SCIP India 2025, highlighted the importance of the event in enhancing clinical knowledge and skill development. He noted that in-depth discussions on advanced imaging technologies, evolving treatment strategies, and real-world case demonstrations would benefit physicians in performing safer, more precise coronary interventions.

The conference was inaugurated by Prof Vivek Lal, Director, PGI, who emphasised the critical role of heart-healthy lifestyle choices, including proper diet, physical activity, avoiding alcohol, smoking and stress, and a timely medical consultation, in preventing heart attacks and reducing the burden of cardiovascular disease in India.

A highlight of the conference was the presentation of 60 real-world coronary intervention cases, allowing cardiologists to share procedural expertise, imaging interpretations, and clinical challenges.

Among these, Wing Commander Dr Navjot Kaur from Command Hospital (Air Force), Bangalore, and Dr Sabri Krishan, from Meenakshi Hospital, Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, both PGI alumni, were honoured with the Best-Case Presentation Awards for showcasing exceptionally complex and technically demanding angioplasty procedures. SCIP India 2025 reaffirmed the value of collaborative medical education and the continuous evolution of evidence-based cardiology practice. By leveraging imaging-guided precision within coronary interventions, the conference aims to ultimately improve patient recovery, procedural safety, and long-term cardiovascular outcomes across the country.
