Man dies after vehicle skids

40-year-old Kirpal Singh on Sunday died in Sector 27 as his scooter skidded near a Taxi Stand in Sector 27 in the afternoon. Kirpal is survived by two children and a wife and was a resident of Sector 29.

EO to take action against defaulters

The UT Estate Office is all set to take action against hundreds of defaulters of various building bylaws who have been served notices under Section 8,10,15 of the Capital Act and the Estate Office rules 2007. According to officials,lists are being compiled from several sectors in the city where notices were issued in the past.

Three drunk men quarrel at F-Bar

High drama prevailed at the F-Bar,Sector 9 on Saturday night when three persons in an inebriated condition created a ruckus in the bar. The incident took place at midnight when the Police Control Room received a call regarding a quarrel between three persons inside the bar. According to one of the police officials,Anil Sharma,a resident of Sector 22,Jasvir Singh,a resident of Fatehgarh,and Manpreet Singh,a resident of Khanna,entered into a verbal spat. The three were arrested and later bailed out.

Patil to inaugurate new CCET block

The UT Administrator,Shivraj Patil,will inaugurate the B Block of the Chandigarh College of Engineering Technology,Sector 26 today. CCET was established in the campus of Central Polytechnic in 2002. This new block will provide 20 laboratories for Civil & Mechanical Engineering students.

Man beaten up after collision with car

Sector 11 Police Station has registered a case of rioting with armed weapons,criminal intimidation and voluntarily causing hurt against 10 unknown persons who had allegedly beaten Baljinder Singh and Sandeep,both residents of Mohali at the bridge leading to Khuda Lahora at 2.44 am when they were returning from a disco in Sector 8 where they work as part-time bouncers. A car collided with them and its occupants then beat up Baljinder. He was rushed to PGIMER and was later discharged. He had sustained minor injuries.
