Environment Day celebrated at school

CHANDIGARH: Kindergarten classes of ‘Petals’,a unit of SD Public School Sector 32 celebrated Environment Day. Children came dressed in green and had brought green eatables in their lunch boxes. They enjoyed a small nature walk,where they were told about the importance of trees,bushes and green vegetables.

UT Powermen strike: No work,no pay,says Admn

Chandigarh: With the UT Powermen’s Union announcing its decision to go on strike on July 30,the Chandigarh Administration has announced that the principle of ‘No Work,No Pay’ will be strictly enforced during the strike.

The defaulting employees will also be liable for other disciplinary action.

The residents have been asked to contact the various complaint centres in their area for electricity complaints. Besides these,they can also contact the control room.

The employees will be going on strike for fulfillment of their demands,including filling up of vacant posts,procurement of material,removal of pay anomalies as well as providing safety devices to the employees,besides other demands.

The union has been holding a series of protests over a period of time.

Satya Pal Jain assures rehri workers of BJP support

Chandigarh: Senior BJP leader Satya Pal Jain on Monday said that the Congress-led central government has betrayed the poor and downtrodden section of society and the working classes.

Jain said that the Congress came to power in the name of ‘Aam Admi’ (the common man) and during its nine years of rule,it is the ‘Aam Admi’ which has suffered the most.

Jain addressed a protest rally of Chandigarh Footpath and Cycle Rehri Workers Union in Sector 20. He said that the policies of the Congress government are primarily responsible for the tremendous rise in prices of essential commodities in the country.

Jain assured the workers that when the BJP will come to power,the party will ensure the issuance of identity cards to all the footpath workers and ensure work with self-respect and dignity even to the poorest of the poor in the country.

He appealed to the workers to throw the present corrupt,incompetent and anti-poor government out of power in the coming elections.
