CHANDIGARH: A fire broke out at a cracker stall in the Dusherra Ground near the Housing Board lights,Manimajra,at around 7 pm on Tuesday. The incident took place as the shopkeeper was trying to demonstrate the working of a small gun. The fire was quickly brought under control as a fire tender was present nearby. No one was injured in the accident.

Two booked for cheating

CHANDIGARH: The police have booked a Burail resident for preparing fake documents (identity card,salary slips) for several people. The accused has been identified as Sachin and the documents prepared by him were being used for surety purposes. In a separate incident,Dhanwant Singh,a resident of PH-7,Mohali,was booked for cheating. Singh had used fake residential proof of Sector 23 to get his car registered at the Sector 17 RLA office.

11 held for gambling

CHANDIGARH: Chandigarh Police has nabbed 11 people from various parts of the city for gambling and registered eight cases of gambling against them. The arrested persons arre Ashwani Kumar,Khurshid Khan,Kulbir Singh,Harvinder Singh,Raj Kumar,Shyam Mohamad,Dinesh Rawat,Montu Singh,Rahul Dheer,Gagandeep and Manjit Singh. The cops also recovered a larrge amount of cash from the accused. All of tthem were later released on bail. A case under various sections of the gambling act has been registered at various police stations in the city.

Four new dengue cases

Chandigarh: Four fresh cases of dengue were reported in the city on Tuesday. With this,the total number of cases has increased to 42.

Chandigarh ADC to join Punjab

Chandigarh: UT Additional Deputy Commissioner-cum-Sub Divisional Magistrate M L Sharma has been relieved of his charge. Sharma will be joining his parent state Punjab.
