Labourers protest at MC office
Labourers of the Municipal Corporation protested at the civic body office following the death of a fellow worker. The protesters blocked one of the entrances of the MC office building,demanding that compensation be provided to the deceaseds family. Officials,however,said it was found after investigation that the labourer had died of natural causes and not on duty.
Motorcyclist dies in road accident
Motorcyclist Jai Kishan,a resident of the city died in a road accident at the sector 26 light point on Thursday evening. Police said the accident took place at 8.20 pm when Kishan was driving his bike at the light point and a woman pedestrian tried to cross the road. Police sources said: The motorcyclist hit the lady and both were injured. The duo were shifted to the nearby hospital where Kishan was declared brought dead.
Free dental camp in Mohali
As many as 365 students of Government High School in Phase XI,Mohali,were examined and treated by a team of dentists for various dental ailments at a free camp organised by the Rotary Club in association with Sri Guru Harkrishan Sahib (C) Multi-Speciality Hospital,Sohana,at the school campus here on Thursday. Rotary Club DGE Manpreet Singh Gahdhoke inaugurated the camp and spoke about the importance of maintaining dental hygiene among all age groups to stay healthy. Dr Geetanjali Sharma and Dr Pavittar Singh conducted the examinations and treatments. Rotary Club president,Navneet Saxena said: The camp was part of a series of medical camps that we have been organizing since 1984. School principal Surinder Pal Kaur said: Camp will go a long way in creating awareness on dental upkeep and inculcating good habits among the students.
