Two Haryana DSPs to join UT Police on deputation

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana government relieved two Deputy Superintendents of Police on Thursday and will be deputed to the Chandigarh police for a two year tenure. The two officers,who will be joining Chandigarh police in the coming week are Kamaldeep and Deepak Saharan. The Punjab police has already sent four police officers,including three DSP level officers and an Additional Superintendent of Police to Chandigarh police,on deputation. The officers are being called by Chandigarh Administration on deputation,against the vacant seats in the Indian Reserve Battalion. There are six vacancies for the posts of DSP level officers and three ASP level officers. With the two officers coming from Haryana,only one vacancy is left for the DSP level officer,while two ASP level vacancies are yet to be filled. The Chandigarh Administration had also approached the Delhi government for deputation of its officers to Chandigarh. The Delhi government has yet to send its panel.

Minor dies in Choe mishap,another rescued

Lalru: In an incident happened on Thursday,two minor boys were drowned in Jharmal choe at Dappar village near Lalru. Though one was found dead,another was saved by some passersby who witnessed the incident. The deceased was identified as Vishal Thapa (12),son of Rishal Thapa,resident of Dappar.

According to sources,Vishal along with Ramu,son of Ram Bhadur,a resident of Dappar,was on his way back home from school at around 2 pm when the boys tried to cross the Jharmar choe through a pipe (put for crossing purpose) and slipped into the choe.

Guddu and Bhajna of Dappar village witnessed the incident and immediately jumped into the choe and managed to save Ramu who was rushed to Civil Hospital,Dera Bassi where his condition is said to be stable. The body of Vishal Thapa could only be found after six hours with the help of divers . The parents of the victims belong to Nepal and are employed in the nearby industries and live in rental houses at Dappar.

Judicial custody for Gymkhana club manager

Panchkula: The District Courts on Thursday remanded the manager and clerk of Gymkhana club to judicial custody. S K Kaushal,manager of the club,and Virender an employee of catering service,were arrested after a late night trap laid down by Haryana Vigilance at the club in Sector 6. They were accused of allegedly demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 20,000 from a private contractor,Harjit Singh,who had constructed a swimming pool in the club. Singh is the complainant in the case and had also alleged that Kaushal was threatening to issue a notice to him for faults in the swimming pool. Singh alleged that Kaushal was asking for Rs 20,000. After allegedly accepting the money,Kaushal handed over the cash to Virender. The Vigilance team,which was led by Inspector Madan Lal,registered a case under Prevention of Corruption Act. The Gymkhana club falls under the jurisdiction of HUDA.
