CET admit cards sent
Chandigarh: Admit cards for the Common Entrance Test,2011,(CET-2011) to be conducted by Panjab University (PU) on May 22 have been dispatched to the candidates by Registered Post. Those who do not receive Admit Cards by May 19 may get duplicate Admit Cards from the University Office (CET Cell,Aruna Ranjit Chandra Hall,near Post Office) on May 20 and 21 after completing pre-requisite requirements as detailed in Para 34,Page 19,of the CET Prospectus-2011,PU Controller of Examinations said.
Lawyers go on strike
CHANDIGARH: Lawyers of the Chandigarh District Courts went on strike on Monday to protest against the ,alleging assault of a District Bar Association member by Chandigarh Police. The Bar claimed that a complaint was given seeking action against the concerned police officers but to no avail. SSP Naunihal Singh said that an inquiry is being conducted by DSP Jagbir Singh. It will take two days more to conclude the inquiry, said Jagbir Singh
Mohali clean-up drive
MOHALI: A special cleanliness drive was launched in Mohali on Monday,during which Deputy Commissioner-cum-Municipal Corporation Commissioner Varun Roojam deputed 350 workers to undertake daily sanitation work till May 31. Roojam also deputed MC Additional Commissioner Parveen Kumar Thind and two executive officers to supervise the drive.
UGC-NET coaching
CHANDIGARH: The last date for submission of applications for a fresh batch of coaching classes for UGC-NET Examination (Humanities),to be started at the Centre for IAS and other Competitive Examinations,Panjab University,has been extended to May 14. The classes will commence from May 16. Prof Rajan Gaur,Honorary Director,Centre for IAS and Other Competitive Examinations informed.
Maya visit on May 29
Chandigarh: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati will be in Chandigarh on May 29 for the BSP North Zone workers convention. Rajya Sabha MP and BSP national general secretary Narendra Kumar Kashyap said the convention would be held at the rally ground in Sector 25.
Man dies in accident
CHANDIGARH: An unidentified man died in a road accident in the city on Sunday night. The police said that a pedestrian,whose identity could not be established,was hit by an unknown car near the cremation ground in Maloya.
