The UT Administration will give Republic Day commendation certificates to rowing coach Arvind Sehgal,Sonali Bansal,Sector 42 resident Neha Sood,Government College of Art Principal D S Kapoor,Mohinder from the MC,fireman Yogesh Tyagi,Inspector Sita Devi,DSP Roshan Lal,GMSH-16 Pharmacist Jagjeet Kaur,Prayas Honorary Director BNS Walia,ASI Rakesh Rasila,HGV Puran Singh and Mona Sharma. Mona will be awarded for helping to nab a motorcycle-borne snatcher in Sector 33.

SBI honours key performers
Chandigarh:
The SBI honoured its key performers for the successful completion of GMADA-Aerocity scheme at the Regional Branch Office,Chandigarh on Thursday. The bank processed around 1.25 lakh applications. The Chief General Manager of Chandigarh circle,SK Sehgal,and General Managers Sudipan Bhaduri and Deepti Sahai were present on the occasion.

Parking lots auctioned
Chandigarh:
Municipal Corporation held auction of two paid parking lots on Friday. The one at Sector 9 was auctioned for Rs 11.25 lakh and the one at Fun Republic and Tourist Bus parking in Manimajra for Rs 11.25 lakh.

Baldevnagar SHO sent to police lines
Ambala:
The SHO of Baldevnagar police station,Sheetal Singh,who has been accused of raping three Bagri women in custody,has been sent to police lines. One of the women,whose pregnancy was allegedly terminated owing to the assault,was referred to the Panchkula Civil Hospital for tests.

Protest against FIR in voucher theft case
Panchkula:
The Income Tax Employees Federation (North-West) staged a demonstration in front of the office of the Commissioner of Income Tax,Panchkula,on Friday against the registration of an FIR against 11 of their colleagues in the case of theft of 192 refund vouchers. The FIR was registered under Section 420,409 of the IPC at the Sector 5 police station on December 7,2010,on the complaint of Income Tax Officer (HQ) Deepak Ashri.

Notice to civic body,restaurant
Chandigarh:
The Punjab and Haryana High Court issued notices to the municipal corporation and Nawabz’s Restaurant,Patiala,on Friday following a petition by residents of Patiala. The counsel for the petitioners,APS Shergill,said the petition is being filed against the Nawabz’s Restaurant located in New Officers’ Colony,as it is running a restaurant,bar,hooka bar,a banquet hall and conducting other commercial activities from a residential area.

Bar membership restored
Chandigarh:
The Bar Association of Chandigarh district courts has restored the membership of advocate Arvind Thakur,which was suspended after he was found carrying the cartridges of a .12 bore gun. The Association had asked for the registration of an FIR against Thakur for violating prohibitory orders of the court and last week an FIR was registered against him.
