23-year-old run over by train
Ambala:A youth identified as Inderpal Singh,23,a resident of Kazibara Mohalla in Ambala city,died after he was run over by an express train at the railway station. Working as a sales executive in a private company,he was returning to Ambala in Jhelam Express train. As he alighted and was crossing the track,another train came and ran him over. His body was handed over to his kin after a post-mortem.
Assailants chop off youths hands
Ambala:Assailants armed with swords and other sharp-edged weapons attacked a youth and chopped off his hands on Wednesday night. The youth,identified as Tinu,a resident of Jandli village,was returning home when a number of assailants waylaid him. Later,Tinu was rushed to the civil hospital from where he was referred to PGIMER,Chandigarh,in serious condition. The police said the incident seemed to be a case of old enmity.
Two PCR staffers put under suspension
Chandigarh:Police have suspended two staffers of a PCR vehicle for not being present at their assigned location. PCR vehicle,sugar-25,was at the sector 24-25/37-38 roundabout when senior officials found that the two staffers,Constable Jasbir Singh and Dinesh Kumar,were away from their assigned location. They were placed under suspension and sent to Police Lines.
Dr Rattu to be awarded
Chandigarh:Dr Krishan Kumar Rattu,director of Chandigarh Doordarshan,would be awarded with Rashtra Bhasha Gaurav Award by Akhil Bharatiya Hindi Seva Sansthan,Allahabad.
