Kidnapped girl found,2 arrested
Sas Nagar: Mohali Police have recovered the girl who was kidnapped a fortnight ago. Two persons have been arrested in relation to the case. Tavisha,the seven year old daughter of Manish Gupta was kidnapped from her house on July 6. Police have arrested the girl’s mother along with Saurab Tandon,a resident of Dharampur in Solan District of Himachal Pradesh. Meanwhile,police have handed over the girl to her father. According to Tarlochan Singh,Station House Inspector,Mattaur police station said,The girl’s father (Manish) had complained to us that his wife had run away with Saurabh and had taken their daughter with her. We arrested the duo in Delhi and recovered the girl from them.
Landslide blocks Kalka-Shimla highway
Panchkula: The traffic on Kalka-Shimla highway remained blocked for about an hour due to landslide. The incident took place around 4.30 pm,when boulders fell on the road near Timber Trail in Parwanoo. A line of vehicles stretched from Parwanoo to Jabli. A JCB machine was called from the site of Pinjore-Parwanoo bypass,which cleared the road. The route witnessed heavy traffic of vehicles due to three holidays and the incident took place when the commuters were returning home.
CRPF soldier commits suicide
Chandigarh: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan,Mahinder Kumar,allegedly committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance. Police said that the decomposed body of Mahinder Kumar was found at his home in Hallomajra this morning. Police said that a suicide note was also recovered from the spot where he stated that he ended his life as his wife and children and left him. Police have registered a case in Sector 31 police station.
Residents Welfare body gets new president
Chandigarh: B S Gill was unanimously elected as the president of the Residents Welfare Association,Sector 19. Gill’s candidature for the forthcoming elections of the Municipal Corporation was also announced. The other members elected include N S Bhatti as senior vice-president,Ajay Gupta as general secretary,Manbir Singh as secretary and Atul Mahajan as treasurer. The executive members will include Harminder Kaur,M S Kohli,Davinder Sharma and Sukhjinder.
Child dies after fall from second floor of house
Chandigarh: A 4-year-old child,Rajat,died when he allegedly fell down from the second floor of his house on Monday in Attawa village,Sector 42. Police said the child accidentally slipped from the floor while he was playing. He was rushed to Government Multi-Speciality Hospital,Sector 16 where doctors declared him brought dead.
