Stir against GMADA,PUDA

MOHALI: Hundreds of employees under the banner of Joint Action Committee staged a protest against the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) and Punjab Urban Planning and Development Authority (PUDA) in front of PUDA Bhawan in Sector 62 here on Wednesday. After Mohali District Planning Committee Chairman N K Sharma assured them that their issues would be taken up with with Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal,the protesters agreed to call off their sit-in.

SBI holds car dealers’ meetM

CHANDIGARH: A large number of car dealers attended the car dealers’ meet,inaugurated by State Bank of India’s (SBI) Chief General Manager (Chandigarh circle) S K Sehgal. Inaugurating the meet,Sehgal highlighted various features of the Bank’s car loan scheme and pointed out that the SBI had recently withdrawn the provisions of penalty for pre or partial repayment of car loans before their due date.

SHO’s condition stable

CHANDIGARH: Sector 17 SHO Hardit Singh,who suffered a paralytic attack on Tuesday,remained in grave condition at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research,(PGIMER),Chandigarh. Doctors said that his condition was stable.

Lok Adalat on May 28

Panchkula: Chief Judicial Magistrate-Cum-District Legal Service Authority Secretary Gurvinder Kaur said on Wednesday that a Lok Adalat on old pattern would be held at the District Court on May 28 while the Rural Lok Adalat would be held at village Beer Ghaggar on June 5,2011.

IAS topper honoured

KHARAR: Lalit Jain,who has topped this year’s All India Civil Services Exams from the Tricity with an overall rank of 41,was felicitated by local lawyers at a function organised by Kharar Bar Association here. Being an advocate,Jain practiced in the Kharar judicial courts and was a member of Kharar Bar body.

Blood donation camp

Panchkula: A blood donation camp organised by Hansraj Public School,Panchkula,received an over whelming response from parents and staff members. As many as 225 units of blood was donated.
