No power for Faidan residents

Chandigarh: The residents of Faidan village are ruing the disconnection of electricity to the area. The members of the Lions Welfare Society visited the area to listen to the grievances of the residents. The residents said that electricity was being supplied by a contractor which has has now been stopped. The residents said they were ready to get proper meters installed to end the problem.

One more arrested for witness attack

Sas Nagar: The Mohail police have arrested another person in the case related to the attack on a witness outside the District Courts Complex,Mohali,a few days back. Gurbaaz,a resident of Laknour was arrested today from his village. He was presented in front to the Duty Magistrate and sent to judicial remand.

One arrested for cheating

Chandigarh: Chandigarh police arrested a Mouli Jagran resident for allegedly cheating a Sector 26 resident. Chand Thakur lodged a compliant with the police alleging that on April 12,2011 he paid Rs 35 lakhs to Surinder Rai of Mouli Jagran at Grain Market Sector 26 for purchasing a plot of land at Village Lohgarh Mohali. “The plot was,however,already sold to another person,” Thakur told the police in his complaint. Surinder Rai was arrested in Mouli Jagran and has been sent to judicial custody for fourteen days.

5 booked for killing man

SAs Nagar: Mohail Police have registered a case of murder,destruction of evidence and criminal conspiracy against four persons. Gurjang Singh,a resident of Kohard Singhwala,District Ferozpur,in his complaint alleged that his son Jagveer Singh (35) had been murdered by his (Jagveer) wife and her accomplices. Singh alleged that his son,who worked as a property dealer,had been staying in Ivory Towers,Sector 71,Mohali and was missing since last year. He questioned his daughter-in-law who told him that he had taken his car and would return soon. Jagveer’s car was found near the Chandigarh railway station,but Jagveer did not return. Police have booked Jagveer’s wife along with four others under sections 302,201 and 120 B of the IPC.
