Cancer awareness rally at PGGC-11
CHANDIGARH: To generate awareness among college students on various issues concerning cancer,a sensitisation campaign was carried out in Post Graduate Government College in Sector 11 by the Cancer Awareness Society (CAS) on Thursday. Over 150 students took out a rally in the college as part of the campaign. We hope to make a difference with active support of students in spreading cancer awareness,said society coordinator,Aparna Kaushal.
Pharma institute gets new hostel
SAS NAGAR: The Chairman of the Board of Governors of the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research(NIPER),SAS Nagar,Dr. Vishwa Mohan Katoch(Secretary,Department of Health Research),inaugurated the academic session and a newly constructed CHENAB hostel for students here on Thursday. Built at a cost of Rs 5 crore,the hostel is a five-floor building with 2 common rooms,dining area with kitchen and can accommodate 166 students. The Chairman also inaugurated the Academic Session 2011-12 by lighting the lamp in the presence of students and guests. Professor Harkishan Singh,Emeritus Professor,Panjab University,was the guest of honour.
PU Sanskrit course from August 17
CHANDIGARH: PUs Sanskrit Department will organise a Sanskrit speaking course between August 17 and 30. The course is open to all students and the general public and will be held from 12 noon to 1.30 pm daily at the department. Those interested can participate by depositing a registration fee of Rs 50.
Second counselling schedule for MCA
CHANDIGARH: Students who have submitted their admission forms for the Master of Computer Application course,but were not able to furnish their results,can do so by August 18 up to 4 pm in the office of the department of Department of Computer Science and Application DCSA,PU. The 2nd admission criteria will be based on the O-CET-2011. The admission session will be held in the Auditorium of the Department of Mathematics,Panjab University on August 25 at 10 am. No separate interview or counselling letters will be sent. Candidates are required to bring all original documents and certificates along with the original Entrance Result Card of OCET and fee on the date of counselling.
Womens studies counselling on Aug 16
CHANDIGARH: A few seats are still lying vacant for the Masters in Womens Studies and Development course. Interested candidates must submit their applications to the Department-cum-Centre for Womens Studies and Development,Arts Block-VI,Panjab University by August 13 before 5 pm. Counselling will be conducted on August 16 between 10 am and 1 pm.
