Chandigarh: A delegation comprising of leaders of various political parties met UT IGP P K Srivastava to demand action in the incident of kidnapping and death of five-year-old Khushpreet Singh. The delegation asked the IG to ensure that the guilty are booked at the earliest. The members stated that despite many months having passed since Khushis death,no action has been taken. While the magisterial probe had highlighted the lapses on the part of the police,nothing concrete had been done,they added.

Fancy nos fetch Rs 11 lakh
MOHALI: The auction of fancy vehicle registration numbers in Mohali on Friday fetched Rs 10,71,300,which was almost nine times more than the reserve price of Rs 1.11 lakh. In the second round of auctioning of fancy numbers of the PB-65-M series,0011 fetched the highest bid of Rs 1.35 lakh against a reserve price of Rs 3,000 while 0009 and 6565 were sold for Rs 1.25 lakh each against the reserve price of Rs 1,000.

Canada-based NRI duped
KHARAR: Canada-based NRI Swaran Singh was duped by a friend in a property deal,the cops said here on Friday. In his police complaint,Singh reported that he had given the power of attorney for his ancestral house at Kharar to a friend,Jagtar Singh. In April 2008 when I came back home,I withdrew power of attorney from Jagtar but when I entered into an agreement to sell my house to one Amritpal Singh in September 2010,I was shocked to know from revenue officials that my house had already been sold out by Jagtar, complained the NRI.

Locked house burgled
MOHALI: Thieves broke open a locked house in Phase 3A here and decamped with cash and silverware worth lakhs of rupees. The occupant,Vanita,told the police that she had left her house locked on March 1. When she returned on March 10,she found the locks broken and the whole place rummaged for valuables. She reported a loss of Rs 40,000 in cash and a large quantity of silverware amounting to several lakhs of rupees.

Panchkula: Panchkula MLA D K Bansal got the proposal for an overbridge on the Sector 19 railway crossing passed on Friday. He said that the proposal had been pending for quite a long time and people had complained about it several times.
