Himachal Police book Lt Col for forgery, cheating and possessing firearm on fake documents
According to Army authorities, the Lieutenant Colonel, currently at Dehradun's Electronic and Mechanical Engineers (EME) Battalion, procured the forged documents during his posting in Maharashtra.

The Himachal Pradesh Police said Tuesday they have lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against a Lieutenant Colonel for alleged forgery, cheating, tampering with documents, and violation of the Arms Act in the state’s Solan district.
Gaurav Singh, Superintendent of Police, Solan, confirmed the registration of the FIR against the Indian Army officer attached to the corps of Electronic and Mechanical Engineers (EME) in Dehradun, and said that an investigation is underway.
The police said the FIR was registered on July 6 under sections 420, 467, and 468 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), along with relevant sections of the Arms Act.
It was lodged based on a complaint by Subedar N S Jadhav, who is posted at the Dagshai Cantonment Board, at Dharampur Police Station.
The officer was previously posted at the Dagshai Cantonment Board, and was transferred to Dehradun due to internal proceedings initiated against him.
According to sources, the officer was stationed in Maharashtra before his posting in Dagshai.
“In August 2023, a 12-bore gun and several documents were found in the possession of the suspect Army officer. During the investigation, a driving licence, ration card, Aadhaar card, and PAN card, all bearing the officer’s photograph, were found to be forged. While the documents featured the officer’s photo, they were issued in someone else’s name. Yesterday, we collected these documents from the Army authorities at the Dagshai Cantonment Board,” a police officer said Tuesday.
“As per Army authorities, the suspect officer procured the forged documents during his posting in Maharashtra. We have been informed that details of the internal probe against him will be shared with us shortly,” added the officer.
According to sources, the FIR was registered under sections of the IPC since the offences date back to 2023, rather than under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, which came into effect on July 1 last year.
