Argument between drivers turns ugly,one shot dead

The incident took place in Gharaunda,Karnal,at about 1 am. Ravi and his helper Rahul,both residents of the village Jatheri (Sonepat district) were on way to Karnal. They used to get the milk from Modern Dairy,Karnal,every night and transport it to New Delhi. While Ravi had started working on the route eight days ago,Rahul had joined him after two days.

According to the FIR,registered at Gharaunda police station,“Ravi and Rahul had crossed Panipat toll plaza,when a white Swift Dzire car (bearing a Haryana number) forced them to stop on the National Highway-1. The car driver entered into an altercation with Ravi and alleged that the milk van had rammed into his vehicle a few kilometers back. Ravi ignored the car driver and again started for Karnal. As the car moved towards Panipat grain market,the car driver blocked the road and pulled Ravi out of the vehicle and both entered into a heated argument. When Ravi’s helper intervened,he was also abused. The car driver first punched Ravi and then taking out a revolver shot him dead.”

Sub Inspector Ram Sarup,at Gharaunda police station,said,“Preliminary investigations have revealed that Ravi and Rahul,after an altercation with the car driver,had tried to overpower him and had even pulled out an iron rod,following which the car driver fired a gunshot at Ravi,killing him on the spot. He then sped away. The car’s registration number is with us,and we shall soon be able to arrest the accused”.

Ravi’s post mortem examination was conducted at the civil hospital,Karnal. He was the sole bread-earner for his parents,who are small time farmers at Jatheri village in Sonepat district.
