APJ,DAV-8 storm into semis

Half centuries by Kapil Punia and Abhijeet propelled APJ,Kharar to a 15-run win over DAV Public School.

Half centuries by Kapil Punia (57) and Abhijeet (55) propelled APJ,Kharar to a 15-run win over DAV Public School,Sector-8 and into the semi-finals of the 7th Molly Carver Invitational Cup being organised by Desh Prem Azad Cricket Academy and St Stephen’s School,Sector 45.

APJ,Kharar won the toss and elected to bat first. Batting first,they posted a total of 168 runs in 39.4 overs. Kapil Punia was the highest scorer for the team as he played a knock of 57 runs. Abhijeet played a knock of 55 runs and ably supported Punia. Both were involved in a 92-run partnership for the third wicket. Chasing a target of 169 runs,DAV Public School,Sector 8 were bundled out for a total of 153 runs in 38.3 overs. Arvind Chauhan played a knock of 51 runs but his knock went into vain. For APJ,Kharar,Karan claimed four wickets for 29 runs.

In another match of the day,Stepping Stones Public School scored a two-wicket win over St Stephen’s School to move into semi-final stage. St Stephen’s School won the toss and elected to bat first. Batting first,they posted a total of 156 runs in 29.1 overs. Sahil Saini was the highest scorer,making 35 runs. Aamir played a knock of 18 runs. For Stepping Stones School,Kamalpreet Singh claimed three wickets for 22 runs. In reply,Stepping Stones School chased the target for the loss of eight wickets in 29.5 overs. Shubham Gupta was the main scorer for the winning team as he played a knock of 41 runs. For the losing team,Aamir claimed five wickets including a hat-trick but his effort went into vain.
