Earlier, The Indian Express has reported security lapses during Diljit Dosanjh’s recently-held concert in Chandigarh, where 105 mobile phones were reportedly stolen despite a significant police presence and drone surveillance.
In the latest case, the Chandigarh Police said following the Dhillon concert on Saturday, a call was received at its helpline number (112) regarding a missing mobile phone, which was attended by officials of police post in Sector 24, Chandigarh and a Lost Article Report (LAR) report was lodged regarding it.
“Additionally, two persons visited the police station at Sector 11, Chandigarh, to report missing mobile phones. Online LARs were lodged. As per the records available on the E-Saathi app of Chandigarh Police, a total of 10 persons reported their missing purses and mobile phones. Besides these, four complaints have also been received through online ICMS portal regarding thefts/missing mobile phones in police station 11 area,” the UT police said.
The thefts come even as the UT police claimed that “extensive law and order, security, and traffic arrangements were meticulously planned and executed”.
An official said that the Chandigarh Police reaffirms its commitment to maintain law and order and to ensure the safety and security of citizens at large during such big events.
