Ankit Kapoor continued his dream run in the championship as he ended the challenge of Piyush with a 2-1 win (46-27,32-50,64-28) to move into the final in the sub-junior category in the 26th Chandigarh Billiards and Snooker Championship played on Friday.
Playing an attacking game,Kapoor claimed the first frame with a margin of 46-27. In the second frame,Kapoor lost the momentum and lost the frame 32-50. However,he regrouped his energies to secure the third and final frame with a margin of 64-28 to claim the win.
In the senior snooker category,Rahul Singla displayed cool temperament and safety skills to overcome Pradeep with a 3-1 (23-65,35-27,57-47,51-41) win. Singla lost the first frame by 23-65. Singla gained the momentum in the second frame as he won the second frame with a margin of 35-27 to equalise in the encounter.
Keeping his cool in the third frame,Singla potted long pink and won the frame with a margin of 57-47. Singla claimed the fourth and final frame with a 51-41 margin to claim the exciting match.
In the junior billiards category,Lakshya Dhamija scored a -1(75-63,49-75,75-57) win over Vipul Sachdeva. Dhamija claimed the first frame by 75-63 before losing the second frame with a margin of 49-75. In the final frame,Dhamija emerged triumphant with a 75-57 margin to win the match.
In the senior billiards category,top seed Arif Akhtar of Indian Oil ended the challenge of Mandeep Kakkar with a 2-0 (100-36,100-43) win to move into semi-final stage. Arif claimed the first frame with a margin of 100-36 before claiming the second frame with a 100-43 margin to saunter into the last four.
In another match in the same category,Madhur Mukhi scored a straight 3-0 (67-29,56-25,51-18) win over Dinesh Kanwar. Mukhi claimed the first set with a 67-29 margin before claiming the second set with a 56-25 margin. Mukhi claimed the third set with a 51-18 margin to win the match.
