Ambala Railway Division gets best performance award

In recognition of the overall development and growth in Ambala division during 2008-09,the Railway Board awarded them 11 of the total 30 shields for good performance in various fields,said Divisional Railway Manager H K Jaggi,while interacting with the media at the Ambala Cantonment railway station on Saturday.

Giving details,he said the division had also been awarded a shield for the best performance in the northern region.

Jaggi said the total earning of the division had been to the tune of Rs 1224.43 crore,an increase of 1.6 percent compared to the previous year.

He also pointed out that though there had been less utilisation of their services by the Food Corporation of India,sustained growth had been achieved due to increase in cement and fertilizer loading.

He added that specific emphasis had been laid on passenger amenities by improving the facilities at Chandigarh,Ambala Cantonment,Dhuri and Bhatinda stations.

Stating that new-design platform shelters had been provided at Fathi,Malot,Giddarbaha and Abohar stations,he said high quality of drinking water was being ensured through regular monitoring by taking samples. Special efforts were made to the train the staff towards safety of railway passengers,he said.
