Sumit Kumar’s brilliant bowling performance (4 for 23) enabled Ambala inflict a crushing 59-run defeat to Kurukshetra during Haryana U-16 Inter-District Cricket Tournament being organised by Haryana Cricket Association in a match held at GMSS-19 in Chandigarh on Tuesday.
Batting first,Ambala scored a total of 148 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 35 overs. Skipper Parabal Sharma (29),Rahul (29) and Sagar (21) were the main contributors for Ambala. Mayank (3 for 31) and Ravi (3 for 29) did the damage for Kurukshetra with the ball. In reply,Kurukshetra were bundled out for mere 89 runs in 22 overs. Sumit Kumar wrecked Kurukshetra batting line-up scalping four wickets.

Chess meet from June 2
The Chandigarh Chess Association will organise the Under-11 (Boys and Girls) Chess Championship at St Xavier’s Senior Secondary School,Sector 44 on June 2 and 3. Two boys and girls will be selected to represent Chandigarh in the nationals to be held at Shivamoga from July 9 to18. LIC chess tourney from today
Chandigarh LIC Divisional Office will conduct LIC North Zone Chess Tournament from May 27 to 29 at Sector 17 in Chandigarh. As many as 40 players from 16 divisions of North Zone comprising states like Delhi,Punjab,Haryana,Chandigarh,Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh.
