Air Commodore Sachdeva to join Integrated Defence Staff

Air Commodore Rajeev Sachdeva — the outgoing Air Officer Commanding 12 Wing — has been promoted to the level of Air Vice Marshal.

Air Commodore Rajeev Sachdeva — the outgoing Air Officer Commanding 12 Wing — has been promoted to the level of Air Vice Marshal. Sachdeva,who will join the headquarters of Integrated Defence Staff in New Delhi,will handover the command to Air Cmde S C Chafekar on May 2.

The headquarters comprises by officers and personnel from the three services,Ministry of External Affairs,Ministry of Defence and the Department of Defence Research and Development.

Sachdeva had joined 12 Wing on December 23,2009. He is a Cat ‘A’ instructor and had served at the VIP Sqn of the Air Force. He was also the chief instructor at Fixed Wing Training Faculty at Air Force,Yelahanka.

An alumnus of the College of Defence Management and National Defence College,he has over seven years of instructional experience — he has taught in basic flying schools,flying instructors school and also at the College of Defence Management.

A widely-travelled officer,he has visited over 24 nations — including Latin America,US,Russia,Australia,Europe,Middle East and South East Asia — during his course of duty.

Under his command,the 12 Wing has bagged three trophies for excellent performance in the field of aviation,communication and education in 2010.

The 48 Squadron had received the best transport squadron trophy for contribution towards air maintenance of forward area — especially during the Leh cloudburst relief operation.
