In an all-party meet called by the Panjab University (PU) Dean Students Welfare (DSW) Prof A S Ahluwalia, attended by the DSP Central Ashish Kapoor as well, the authorities appealed to students leaders to maintain a cordial environment on the campus. The meeting was called after an incident involving some estranged members of the Panjab University Students Union (PUSU) who attacked the PUSU party president outside the PU gate number one on June 18. The police officer and the DSW asked students to not indulge in fights and if any student leader or any party affiliate has a problem,he can directly inform the DSW office. Moreover, the DSW assured them that designated places to set up help desks will be allotted to each student outfit on the campus by June 21 and they will be authorized to set up help desk by June 24. For the help desk, each party has to submit names of its 10 members along with an ID card and the student status of the members. The places to set up help desk will be announced by 4 pm on Friday. The students were also asked to help the new comers with admissions and were warned not to paste their party stickers on the forms. The party leaders were further told to paste their pamphlets on the designated place provide to them. Prof Ahluwalia also announced that new varsity stickers will be issued soon. Once strikers are issued no car without that sticker will be allowed to enter the campus. We called the meeting just in order to ask the student leaders and their party members to work in coordination as they are here to help the students and not to fight among themselves, said Prof Ahluwalia. If any student found indulged into any unlawful activity, the PU authorities will taken a stern action against that student, added Prof Ahluwaila.
