Accused on the run for 3 years arrested from wedding at Una

The accused was produced before the court and was remanded in judicial custody.

After evading the police for nearly three years, a proclaimed offender was finally arrested by the Panchkula police while attending a wedding in Una, Himachal Pradesh.

The accused, identified as Shyamlal, had been declared a proclaimed offender by the court in 2022 and was wanted in six cheque-bounce cases registered in Haryana and Punjab.

As per the police, a special team led by Pinjore SHO Bachhu Singh and PO staff in-charge Munish conducted a joint operation based on secret information.

According to the police, Shyamlal had already been convicted in the cheque-bounce cases but went into hiding after being released on bail. Acting swiftly on the input, the police team devised a meticulous plan. Starting from around 8 pm on October 11, officers maintained constant surveillance on the suspect’s movements. After an overnight operation and continuous tracking, the team managed to apprehend the accused around 4.30 am with the assistance of the Una police.

The accused was produced before the court and was remanded in judicial custody.
