Battling heat and fatigue,Abhishek Ahlawat made a solid start to his campaign by winning his quarter-final encounter in the boy’s Under-18 category in the YMCA Total Tennis Championship being played at Total Tennis Academy,in Sector 11,on Friday. Without losing a single game,Abhishek demolished Aditya,7-0,to enter the semi-finals. Earlier,Abhishek started off well by winning the first three games in quick succession against Parmeet Deol in the first round. Deol,making a superb comeback,took a lead of 5-3 only to see Abhishek win the remaining games to take the match,7-5.

Cricket teams selected
The Chandigarh Tennis Ball Cricket Association has announced the names of the players for the camp after which the Chandigarh boys and girls teams for the 18th Sub-Junior U-16 National Tennis Ball Cricket tournament to be held at Kushinagar,Uttar Pradesh,from June 13,will be selected. The camp will be conducted from daily from 6.30 am to 8.30 am from May 27 to June 1 at Shishu Niketan Public School,Sector 43,Chandigarh.

Golf championship on Sunday
More than 150 golfers will take part in the Godrej Properties Golf Challenge to be held at Chandigarh Golf Club on May 26. All the participants are required to have a valid handicap recognised by the club while the event will be played in two handicap categories of 0-12 and 13-24. The scoring for the event will be done according to the Stableford Points System (3/4 Nett Stableford Points).
