AAP MP announces jobs at LPU for families of 43 Punjab flood victims
Arvind Kejriwal applauded MP Ashok Mittal’s initiative, called it ‘beacon of hope’

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP and Chancellor of Lovely Professional University (LPU) Friday announced permanent employment to one family member of each of the 43 individuals who lost their lives in the recent Punjab floods.
MP Ashok Mittal said, “Lovely Professional University will provide a permanent job, based on their qualification, to one family member of each of the 43 bereaved families.”
“We will personally reach out to all the affected families, but I also appeal through the media that any family who has not yet been contacted should come forward so that immediate assistance can be provided,” he added.
Mittal also praised the Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, for its proactive efforts in relief and rescue operations, including setting up 196 relief camps and evacuating over 20,000 people. He acknowledged the work of AAP volunteers, MLAs, ministers, NGOs, religious institutions, the army and the NDRF, who are at the forefront of the efforts.
He paid tribute to the 43 victims, referring to them as “martyrs of this disaster”, and said “We are committed to ensuring that the families who have lost their loved ones and their livelihoods in this calamity will not be abandoned.”
Earlier, MP Ashok Mittal had also contributed Rs 20 lakh to the CM Relief Fund to support the ongoing relief and rehabilitation efforts in flood-affected areas.
Addressing the media, the MP expressed sorrow over the situation in the state and called it one of the worst calamities Punjab has faced in decades.
“Punjab has always been the first to stand with the nation during any crisis… Now, it is the time for the nation and for us as a community to stand firmly with Punjab and our people,” said Mittal.
As the state now prepares for the long-term challenges of rehabilitation, including rebuilding homes, restoring farmland, providing medical assistance and reviving livelihoods, Mittal called for collective efforts and generous support from all sections of society.
