AAP MLA Amritpal Singh Sukhanand marries granddaughter of Sikh religious leader
Rajvir Kaur is the granddaughter of Sikh religious leader Sant Baba Resham Singh Chak Pakhi Wale. The wedding ceremony was held at a gurdwara in the hill town Chail of Himachal Pradesh Sunday.

Aam Aadmi Party’s Baghapurana MLA Amritpal Singh Sukhanand (33) married Rajvir Kaur, the granddaughter of Sikh religious leader Sant Baba Resham Singh Chak Pakhi Wale, in an intimate wedding ceremony held at a gurdwara in the hill town Chail of Himachal Pradesh, Sunday (April 2). Sant Baba Resham Singh Chak Pakhi Wale has a substantial follower base in Punjab’s Fazilka, Muktsar and Ferozepur districts.
A law graduate, Kaur holds permanent residency in Canada. An engineering graduate, Sukhanand is a first-time MLA from Baghapurana. He also owns a gas agency and is an agriculturist.
One of the MLAs who attended the wedding told The Indian Express that celebrations started Saturday with an engagement ceremony at a high-end hotel in the hill town Kufri, some 40 km from Shimla. However, the Anand Karaj ceremony was held Sunday at a gurdwara in Chail.

Among those who attended the engagement ceremony at Kufri Saturday evening were Dr Gurpreet Kaur Mann, wife of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann; Assembly speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan; and cabinet minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, who has been Sukhanand’s close friend, even before both were elected as AAP MLAs.
The couple will host a reception in Sukhanand’s constituency Baghapurana of Moga district on April 4 evening. Another reception will be held for all AAP MLAs, politicians and bureaucrats on April 5 in Chandigarh.
AAP sources said the couple wanted an intimate destination wedding. However, a reception was planned in Baghapurana on CM Mann’s suggestion to Sukhanand to make the common people of his constituency a part of the celebrations. Mann is expected to attend the reception in Chandigarh.
