Popular as a singer,with albums such as Tedi Pag Walia and Mitran Ne Dil Mangya to his credit,Ludhiana-based Ravinder Grewal is set to make his debut as an actor. Grewal will be seen in the Punjabi film Aevyn Raula Pae Gya,an action-packed romcom. The comedy takes a serious turn when an error of judgement leads to Grewals character been termed a murderer, says Atharv Baluja,director of the film.
Aevyn Raula Pae Gya,which releases today,has been produced by Grewals production company,RG Productions. I am looking to debunk the theory that singers cant be actors, says Grewal,who is paired opposite Punjabi actor Surbhi Jyoti. The rest of the cast includes Sardar Sohi,Binnu Dhillon and Kartar Cheema besides comic actor Jaswinder Bhalla.
It does not come as a surprise that the 11 songs of Aevyn Raula Pae Gya have been composed by Grewal. The singer,who trained with Ustad Shamshad Ali,says that he also enrolled in acting classes before his debut film. He might have shown his versatility with albums such as Parnam Shaeedan Nun and Fansi that highlight sacrifices made by freedom fighters such as Shaheed Bhagat Singh,but will his acting skills match up to his singing prowess?
