Eight persons undergoing treatment at an illegal private de-addiction centre in Moga districts Charik village have reportedly gone missing.
The incident came to light on Thursday afternoon when SHO Charik Mohan Das received an anonymous call claiming that some people admitted at the centre have gone missing. I have asked my officer to first check whether this centre is legal and also seek details of the persons who have gone missing, said SSP (Moga) S S Grewal.
Moga Civil Surgeon Dr Gulshan Rai claimed no private de-addiction centre has been given the clearance to operate in the area.
It was reportedly a mans search for his missing brother that led to this revelation. According to sources,a group of persons,who identified themselves as Moga CIA officials had taken away his brother.
Initially,officials at the centre did not allow him meet his brother. When he persisted,he was reportedly told that some people had fled the centre the previous night and that his brother was one of them. Alarmed,this person approached the police.
