Decision on ban on plastic packaging
A meeting between industrialists and UT Advisor Pradip Mehra will be held this week to discuss the Administrations proposal to ban plastic packaging in the city. Industrialists,up in arms against the proposal,have submitted a memorandum to city MP Pawan Kumar Bansal and Mehra,who have assured them of a prompt redressal. Home Secretary Ram Niwas is expected to take a final decision on the matter.
MC to discuss pending projects
On November 20,the Municipal Corporation will hold a special meeting to discuss the status of projects pending for five years.
Film screening
The Education Sensible International Film Festival will screen national and international films on the issue of education from November 16 to 18. The films,which focus on childrens education,will be screened at the Shivalik Public School,Moti Ram Arya Model School,Mohali,and Hansraj School,Panchkula. The grand finale will be held on November 19 at Tagore Theatre.
Crime author in city
Meet celebrated British crime author Jake Arnott at the British Library on November 16. After the inauguration of an exhibition on crime fiction,the author will deliver a talk on Reinventing the Unknown from 12 to 1 pm. Later,he will visit the English Auditorium in Panjab University.
Hockey tournament
The 46th Jindal Senior Nehru Hockey Tournament has begun at the Sector-42 Hockey Stadium. The 10-day tournament will conclude on November 25.
