45-year-old dies at GMCH-32,kin allege negligence

The family members claimed that they brought him to the hospital around 8.30 pm on Monday and he was put on an intravenous drip.

High drama was witnessed outside the emergency wing of the Government Medical College and Hospital,Sector 32,after a 45-year-old man died at the hospital,and the family alleged that he died due to negligence of the hospital as he was not even properly examined by the doctors.

Balwant Singh,a resident of Yamuna Nagar,who was an employee with the Postal Department,was referred to the GMCH-32 emergency wing from civil hospital,Jagadhari,following an accident in which he suffered a head injury.

The family members claimed that they brought him to the hospital around 8.30 pm on Monday and he was put on an intravenous drip. “The doctors did not even examine him.That was the only treatment he was given during the entire stay,” said Uma Devi,the victim’s wife.

The family has also filed a complaint with the hospital’s medical superintendent Dr A K Janmeja.

When contacted,Dr Janmeja said they would look into the complaint of the family.

The family alleged his condition kept on deteriorating but doctors did not prescribe any CT Scan or any other examination. The family alleged that they kept on requesting the doctors but none of them turned up for the required treatment. The family claimed it was around afternoon when a doctor came and examined him. Around 2.30 pm,he succumbed to his injuries.
