A 30-year-old man was found dead near a temple in Majholi village of Theog area in Shimla district on Wednesday. Police said Suresh Heta had gone to a Theog court on Tuesday to record his statement in a case of liquor smuggling. Heta was a witness in the case.
Superintendent of Police R M Sharma, however, said they were not sure yet if it was a murder linked to the court case.
The body will be sent for postmortem on Thursday. Prima facie the death seems to be the outcome of a scuffle between Heta and three local shopkeepers on Tuesday night. The suspects are Sanjay Kumar,Rajender Singh and Devi Ram,who have not been seen in the village since morning, said the SP.
