Three books authored by Dr K P Singh,an IPS officer of the Haryana cadre,were released by Om Thanvi,Editor of Jansatta,at a function held at Fort Ramgarh on Tuesday. The books are titled Human Rights and State Custody in India and Haryana Police Basic Recruit Course.
Talking about the first book,Dr Upneet Lalli,Deputy Director,ICA,Chandigarh,said: Over 10 million people are taken into custody by the police under various criminal laws in India every year. State custody involves many issues relating to human dignity,liberty,morality and compensation.
The author has emphasised the need to ensure proper documentation and record maintenance quo all types of arrests being made by state agencies,a hitherto neglected area,Lalli added.
The second book Haryana Police Basic Recruit Course provides reading material for new entrants in police in the Hindi-speaking states. The third book released on the occasion is a brief commentary on the Haryana Police Act,2007.
