25-year-old found hanging from tree

The victim was allegedly suffering from depression due to his financial condition.

A 25-year-old man allegedly committed suicide Sunday by hanging himself from a tree in the forest area of Sector 54. No suicide note has been recovered from near the body.

The victim has been identified as Dharam Singh, a resident of Phase 3A, Mohali. Dharam Singh was working as a salesman at a footwear store in Phase 3B2, and was married with two children. He was allegedly suffering from depression due to his financial condition.

The family members of Dharam Singh have told police that he left home on Saturday after leaving behind all his identity and ATM cards. His body was noticed by a passerby who informed the police.

The Station House Officer (SHO) of Sector 39 police station, Inspector Ranjodh Singh, said the body was taken to GMSH, Sector 16, where the doctors declared him brought dead.

Police have started inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the CRPC. The post-mortem will be conducted Monday.
