24-yr-old rams car into divider,dies

A 24-year-old MBA aspirant from Una met an untimely death late Thursday night,when he rammed his friend’s car into a median on the Sector 22/23 dividing road.

A 24-year-old MBA aspirant from Una met an untimely death late Thursday night,when he rammed his friend’s car into a median on the Sector 22/23 dividing road. Driving recklessly,the youth was accompanied by two of his friends,including a woman,who had miraculous escape in the mishap.

The victim,Abhishek Pathania,had completed his engineering from the Chitkara College of Engineering this year. He was to join his MBA course in Delhi next month. The mishap took place at 1.30 am,when the car took a sharp turn from the Sector 16 Stadium Chowk towards Sector 22.

According to investigating officer SI Harbhajan Singh,Abhishek’s car was at a high speed,due to which he failed to intercept the turn and rammed into the median.

The iron railings of the divider broke due to the impact and the victim was severely injured. The PCR van rushed him to the PGI,where he succumbed. His friends were discharged from the Sector 16 hospital.

The victim lived in Sector 23 and had come to the city to collect his luggage. His friend Vivek fractured his arm. The three were returning after filling petrol at the Gurdial petrol filling station in Sector 22. The car belonged to Vivek.

“They were just roaming around in the car at a high speed,but Abhishe lost control at the median,” said Sector 17 SHO Jaswinder Singh. A case of rash and negligent driving has been registered against the deceased.
