102 staffers found absent during raid face action

As many as 102 employees,including a tehsildar and a naib tehsildar,were found absent from their duties during a surprise raid conducted on Friday at the District Administrative Complex by Jalandhar Division Commissioner Anurag Verma.

As many as 102 employees,including a tehsildar and a naib tehsildar,were found absent from their duties during a surprise raid conducted on Friday at the District Administrative Complex (DAC) by Jalandhar Division Commissioner Anurag Verma.

The inspection was conducted in the offices of the district transport officer,tehsildar Jalandhar-I & II,district food and civil supplies controller and district development and panchayats officer.

According to sources,the commissioner paid a visit to DAC at 9 am and found the entry gate locked. Following this,his staff took in possession the attendance and movement registers of the offices concerned. In the office of the Regional Transport Authority secretary and DTO,9 employees each were found absent. Moreover,the attendance of one employee had not been marked since August 9.

When Verma visited the Patwar Khana of Jalandhar I & II,he found all 20 Patwari offices to be locked. In the office of district food and civil supplies controller,12 employees were absent. As many as 19 employees of district development and panchayat officer did not report to duty on Friday.

Verma has written to the secretary (transport),financial commissioner (rural development),secretary (food & civil supplies),director (treasuries) and others to take strict action against the delinquent employees.
