Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik launches Startup Yatra to foster innovation among youth

Additionally, the top 20 ideas from Startup Xpress 2023 will be invited for final pitching out of which 10 ideas will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 10,000 each to encourage these young students and build their entrepreneurial spirit.

To boost the startup ecosystem in Odisha and to foster innovation and entrepreneurship among youth, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday launched the Odisha Startup Yatra and Startup Xpress 2023 that aims to connect more than 25,000 students from over 260 institutions.

As many as 50 shortlisted ideas from Startup Yatra will be invited for a three-day acceleration programme. Thereafter, the top 25 ideas will be invited to O-Hub, the state government’s Startup incubation centre, for the demo day out of which 10 will be awarded seed funding worth Rs 3 lakh each to develop their ideas into viable startup ventures, said an official.

Additionally, the top 20 ideas from Startup Xpress 2023 will be invited for final pitching out of which 10 ideas will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 10,000 each to encourage these young students and build their entrepreneurial spirit.

“The objective of the initiative is to scout grassroots innovators, promote entrepreneurship among school and college students. The state government will provide all possible support for a thriving startup ecosystem in Odisha,” said Patnaik.

The Odisha government launched the Startup Odisha with unveiling of the Odisha Startup Policy, 2016 with an aim to boost the ecosystem for the existing and aspiring startups. Since its inception, Startup Odisha has been home to the best entrepreneurial minds and has already supported and facilitated more than 1700 Startups including over 600 by the women. The government has targeted to increase the startup to 5,000 by 2025.

Starup Odisha provides various benefits to recognised startups like monthly allowances, product development and marketing assistance, need base d assistance, subsidised incubation, legal aid and financial support for participation in national and international events.
