Karnataka sex abuse cases: SIT arrests Revanna, seeks Interpol alert on son Prajwal
HD Revanna is accused number one in the case. The victim, who was allegedly kidnapped on April 29, was traced at a farm house in Hunsur, Mysuru district.

H D Revanna, JD(S) MLA from Holenarasipur and father of Hassan Lok Sabha candidate Prajwal Revanna who has been booked for alleged sexual assault of several women, was arrested Saturday after the People’s Representative Court denied him relief in a kidnapping case filed against him.
The Special Investigation Team, which is probing cases against Revanna and Prajwal, arrested the MLA from the Bengaluru residence of his father and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda.
A kidnapping case was filed against Revanna at K R Nagar in Mysuru district by the son of a woman who was allegedly abducted on April 29 to prevent her from approaching the SIT. She was later found at a house in Hunsur, Mysuru district, that was said to belong to a Revanna aide. She was taken to Bengaluru by SIT officials.
After hearing an anticipatory bail plea filed by Revanna in connection with the kidnapping case, the People’s Representative Court reserved its order until the next hearing. When Revanna’s advocate sought interim relief, the Court rejected it and posted the matter for May 6. This paved the way for Revanna’s arrest.
Also Saturday, the SIT told Chief Minister Siddaramaiah that it would approach the CBI for a Blue Corner Notice – part of Interpol’s elaborate system of colour-coded notices, it allows countries to “share alerts and requests for information (on wanted persons/crimes) worldwide — to trace Prajwal who left the country soon after polling in Hassan on April 26 and is believed to be in Germany. The Karnataka government has already petitioned the Union government to cancel Prajwal’s diplomatic passport and ensure his arrest at the earliest.
The SIT, which is investigating multiple cases of alleged sexual assault of women by Prajwal, conducted a spot mahazar at Revanna’s house in Holenaraspur in Hassan district where the MP allegedly recorded multiple videos of his women victims. The SIT officials were accompanied by a victim and her mother who had filed a complaint against Prajwal and Revanna.
The SIT is learnt to have issued a notice to Bhavani Revanna, wife of H D Revanna, asking her to appear before it for questioning when required.
Siddaramaiah held a meeting with SIT officials and underlined that there should not be negligence or delay in investigating the cases. The officials told the CM that Prajwal would be arrested the moment he returned to the country.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also wrote to Siddaramaiah to “extend all possible support to victims” and to ensure that “all parties responsible for these heinous crimes are brought to book”.
