Money paid to co-accused for surrendering, hiding Darshan’s name in murder case: Karnataka Police
On Tuesday, Darshan was arrested along with his friend Pavithra Gowda, an actress, and 11 others in connection with the murder of 33-year-old Renukaswamy, a resident of Chitradurga.

Kannada film actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, who was arrested in the murder case of a 33-year-old man, had promised to give money to his co-accused, who had surrendered before the police claiming responsibility of the killing, for not revealing his name, police told a court here on Wednesday.
In an application seeking police custody of the accused, Kamakshipalya police told the court that attempts were made for not revealing Darshan’s name and that some co-accused were already paid for it.
On Tuesday, Darshan was arrested along with his friend Pavithra Gowda, an actress, and 11 others in connection with the murder of 33-year-old Renukaswamy, a resident of Chitradurga.
Renukaswamy had allegedly commented on the social media account of Pavithra, accusing her of creating a rift between the actor and his wife. He also allegedly used “indecent language” and posted offensive messages, according to police sources. All the 13 accused are in police custody.
According to police, around 7 pm on June 10, Raghavendra, Karthik, Nikhil Naik and Keshava Murthy surrendered before Kamakshipalya police claiming that they had killed Renukaswamy over a financial dispute. After police found out discrepancies in the statements of the accused during questioning, the suspect revealed the actor’s involvement in the case, the police said. One of the accused, Deepak, had offered Rs 5 lakh each to Nikhil Naik, Karthik, Raghavendra and Keshava Murthy for hiding Darshan’s name and surrendering before the police. According to Raghavendra’s statement to the police, Nikhil and Keshava Murthy received Rs 5 lakh each while Karthik and Raghavendra families were about to receive the money after they were jailed.
