Karnataka Lokayukta raids IAS officer Vasanthi Amar, 7 other Govt officials in disproportionate assets case

The Karnataka Lokayukta Wednesday conducted search operations against eight government officials, including IAS officer Dr Vasanti Amar B V, in connection with alleged disproportionate asset cases registered in Bengaluru, Mysuru, Tumakuru, Kalaburagi, Koppal, and Kodagu.

According to the officials, searches were conducted at the homes of government officers and their relatives, as well as at their offices, across 41 locations.

Lokayukta officials also raided Dr Vasanti Amar B V, Special Deputy Commissioner, Rail Infrastructure Development Company Karnataka (K-RIDE) Limited, Bengaluru, which is executing the Bengaluru Suburban Railway Project.

The police said they conducted searches in five places linked to the IAS officer, and recovered assets worth over Rs 9 crore. It included three sites, four houses, three pieces of agricultural land, Rs 12 lakh worth of ornaments, and Rs 90 lakh worth of vehicles, among other assets, claimed the police.

The police said they also found assets worth over Rs 2.6 crore at H V Yarappa Reddy, executive engineer, C V Raman Nagara Division, BBMP, Bengaluru, and recovered assets worth Rs 6.3 crore from Bagli Maruti, Assistant Director, Department of Urban and Rural Planning, M S Building, Bengaluru after the searches in 10 places linked to the government officers.

Additionally, Venkatarama B, Office Assistant (Admin), Mysore City Corporation, was found to have assets worth Rs 3.7 crore, said the police. They added that in Tumkur, searches across six locations linked to Rajesh M, Assistant Executive Engineer, Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB), revealed assets worth Rs 3.6 crore.

Searches were conducted in four places in Kalaburgi linked to Sunil Kumar, Executive Engineer, Health and Family Welfare Department, which revealed assets worth over Rs 4.3 crore, the police said.

Meanwhile, in Koppal, the police claimed to have recovered assets worth Rs 3.1 crore from Shekhu Chavhan, Deputy Director, District Industries Centre (DIC), including 7 acres of agricultural land and other immovable properties worth Rs 1.6 crore.

In Kodagu, the police stated that they recovered assets worth Rs 5.2 crore from Manjunathaswamy M, Joint Director (In-charge), Skill Development, Entrepreneurship, and Livelihood Department, following searches conducted at four locations linked to the officer.
