The Karnataka government has also proposed to induct 14,750 new electric vehicles, of which 9,000 will be for Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation.

Revamping the central bus terminal located at Majestic in the city and a new satellite bus stand at K R Puram are among the state Budget announcements aimed at enhancing transport infrastructure in Bengaluru. Both projects will be implemented on a public-private partnership model, according to the Budget presented by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday.
The government has also proposed to induct 14,750 new electric vehicles, of which 9,000 will be for Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC).
“The Bengaluru Majestic bus stand will be redeveloped under… public-private partnership model. It is envisaged to construct a transport hub consisting of a commercial complex,” the CM said.
The satellite bus stand at K R Puram “will facilitate smooth traffic for the public” and “enhance infrastructure amongst the transport corporations”. The terminal will come up in the eastern part of the city and is expected to cater to buses plying towards Kolar, Chikkaballapur, and Tamil Nadu.
The 14,750 e-buses will be procured under PM e-Drive, PM-eBus Sewa and externally aided projects. Diesel buses, numbering 1,000, will also be inducted across different state-run transport corporations.
The Budget set aside Rs 50 crore for AI-enabled electronic cameras to be installed at 60 places in tier-2 cities such as Davanagere, Dharwad, Kalaburagi, Belagavi, Chitradurga, Haveri, Hospet, Ballari, Vijayapura and Mangaluru. Rs 25 crore was allocated to digitise records of five regional transport offices, as part of an initiative to digitise all records in offices under the Transport Department.
