BJP MLAs shout slogans as they gather in well of the house during the state assembly session, at Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru, Tuesday, July 4, 2023. (PTI Photo) After Karnataka’s Assembly session was disrupted on Tuesday with the BJP MLAs protesting over Congress’s pre-poll guarantees, Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar blamed it on the competition within the saffron party for the posts of party president and leader of Opposition.
Talking to news agency ANI, Shivakumar said: “So they wanted to prove that they are in a competition for the race for the party president and leader of the Opposition. Those who shout more feel that they will be recognised.”

Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara said “the entire chaos is happening” as the BJP doesn’t have a leader of their own. “They don’t have an Opposition leader… they don’t know what to do. there’s no leader to control them, there’s nobody to guide them, there’s absolutely no discipline, and that is why they are creating ruckus in the House.” he said.
