(Express Photo) The Catholic Archdiocese of Bangalore Saturday promised refuge and support to a group of students and working youth displaced by the ongoing ethnic conflict in Manipur, as they travelled to Bengaluru city.
The Archbishop of Bangalore, Dr Peter Machado, expressed his solidarity with the displaced people of Manipur and conveyed the readiness of the entire Archdiocese to take care of them.
According to a statement issued by the diocese, Archbishop Machad has offered the students and youths free of cost access to education and hostel facilities in educational institutions in Bengaluru.

The students were assisted by Father James Beipei SJ to reach Bengaluru to escape the violence-hit state. Father Beipei, a Jesuit priest from Manipur based in Bengaluru, said that the students and youth decided to leave the state as “places of worship, institutions and houses were vulnerable to attacks”.
