Crowd gathers at Mysuru police station after controversial post on Delhi polls, leading to lathi charge; 1 detained

(Photo: X/@CPMysuru)A controversial social media post on the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) loss in the recently held Delhi Assembly election briefly triggered tension in Mysuru on Monday night. One person was detained in connection with the incident, the police said.
Officers were forced to resort to lathi charge after some people pelted stones at the Udayagiri police station.
The police said the situation was later brought under control and additional force was deployed in some regions of Mysuru as a precautionary measure.
Earlier in the day, a resident of Mysuru’s Kalyan Nagar uploaded a post against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and AAP’s Arvind Kejriwal. The post also had alleged derogatory statements against Muslims.
By late night, a group gathered in front of the police station demanding action against the person who put up the post. The police tried to pacify them but soon the crowd started pelting stones, forcing the officers to resort to lathi charge and use tear gas shells.
The BJP won the Delhi Assembly election with 48 seats in the 70-member House, whereas the ruling AAP was able to secure only 22 seats. The results were declared on Saturday.
