(Express Photo) Following a social media post that flagged an alleged groping incident inside a crowded train at the Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Metro Station, Majestic, an official of the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) said it is checking CCTV footage.
According to a Reddit user, the woman was allegedly “touched and grabbed from the back” in a crowded train at 8.50 am on Monday at Majestic metro station.
The user, who claimed to be a friend, said, “My friend who usually takes the bus to college, decided to take the metro instead. Around 8:50 am at Majestic, the metro was extremely overcrowded, much more than usual, with a lot of pushing. Even the lady responsible for managing passenger flow let an unusually large number of people into the train at once.”
The user added, “After a while, my friend began to feel very uncomfortable. She soon realized that a man in a red shirt, standing right behind her, was touching and grabbing her from the back. She could literally feel his nails. My friend didn’t initially realize what was happening. The moment she turned around, the monster literally spirited away. She started screaming and crying for help, but nobody seemed to care.”
However, BMRCL officials said no one reported the incident so far to the management and no calls have been made yet to the toll-free number.
A BMRCL official at Majestic metro station said, “The (BMRCL) management has directed us to check the CCTV footage to find out about the incident, but we haven’t got any clarity so far. Nobody from the victim’s side has come and reported the incident. We neither know the platform nor the stretch where the incident took place. If the victim reports the incident we will track down the culprit with the help of police.”
After the post went viral, the Upparpet police station also inquired with security officials at the Majestic metro station but did not find any lead pertaining to the incident.
