Zadafia appears before SIT,asks for more time

Gujarat Minister of State for Home during the post-Godhra riots,Gordhan Zadafia,on Monday appeared before the Special Investigation Team (SIT).

He asked for more time from the SC-appointed SIT,probing some of the riot cases,sources said,adding that SIT is yet to respond to his request.

The SIT has questioned Zadafia four times in the past one year in connections with the riots. After parting ways with the BJP before the 2007 Assembly polls,Zadafia had formed his own party,Mahagujarat Janta Party.His name figures in the complaint filed by Zakia Jafri,wife of slain former Congress MP Eshan Jafri,who was among the 69 killed in the Gulberg Society massacre.
