Unemployed diamond worker’s daughter commits suicide

The deceased has been identified as Komal Bhailal Thaker (18),a first year Bachelor of Arts student of Prataprai College of Arts in Amreli city. The incident occurred on March 11.

According to the statements of the girl’s parents,Bhailal Thaker,the deceased’s father,was unemployed for the past one and a half months. The family was facing a severe financial crisis which forced Komal to take the extreme step.

Investigation Officer,Sub-Inspector A M Boricha said: “We have carried out a search in the house of the deceased,but no suicide note has been found so far. The police have registered the parents’ statement in this regard.”

A total of six suicides have occurred in Amreli district in which the deceased were either unemployed diamond factory workers or their family members.
