Two migrants get life term in 2011 rape case

Two migrants from Bihar were sentenced to life imprisonment after a local court Monday found them guilty of raping a 16-year-old girl on Dumas beach in Surat in October 2011. Two of their accomplices are still at large. Surat District Principal Session Judge I C Shah sentenced Jitendra Singh (30) and Kamal Singh Bhumihar (23) after going through the evidence,including the mobile company data,that proved their presence on the Dumas beach on the day of the crime. Mobile phones belonging to the girl and her fiancé were also recovered from the possession of the suspects. The court also slapped a penalty of Rs 50,000 on the two under section 376(2) of the IPC.
